Types Of Bipolar Disease And Symptoms Of Manic And Depressive Episodes
When a person suffers through intense changes in mood, thought process, energy levels and behaviour, this situation is known as bipolar disorder. The day-to-day functioning is affected by this condition. It is of different types. Let us discuss those.
Bipolar I Disorder
Under this, a person usually feels sad, hopeless, or just has no interest in doing things. These can last for seven days or a person needs to be hospitalised. A person also experiences an increased energy level than required. Due to all this, a person is not able to work properly. In this, manic episodes are severe.
Bipolar II Disorder
Under this, a person does not face manic episodes but faces hypomanic, which are less severe than manic episodes, and also witnesses depressive episodes. In other words, a person feels extremely sad, disheartened, hopeless and at the same, extremely happy and energetic. This can make a person extremely weak.
Cyclothymic Disorder
Under this, a person suffers from mild depression and unstable mood, but it is for a long time period, say generally for 2 years. Under this, a person has a normal mood for a shorter time period, like, say, for less than eight weeks.
